Hospital Medicine
Hospital medicine is the discipline concerned with the medical care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. The scope of hospital medicine includes acute patient care and may or may not include intensive care management. Hospital medicine, is a specialty organized around a site of care (the hospital), rather than an organ (like pulmonology), a disease (like Lupus), or a patient’s age (like pediatrics).
Under the direct care of Jason Shatkin, MD, patients of PSONJ are cared for in the hospital setting directly by him. You can expect that personal attention and continuity from home to hospital and if necessary to the sub acute or physical rehabilitation setting.
