Nurse Practitioner
Monica Fernicola works as part of the sub-acute rehabilitation team with Physician Specialists of Northern Jersey. Monica came to us in 2023 with over 10 years of experience as a nurse practitioner. She was previously at Pulmonary Medical Associates in Newton NJ, where she worked as an acute and primary care nurse practitioner. Monica graduated from University of Medicine & Dentistry School of Nursing with a Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner in 2012.
Monica is currently practicing at CareOne at Ridgewood Ave Rehabilitation Center in Paramus NJ, where she cares for patients requiring rehabilitation after their hospitalization. During their stay, Monica evaluates patients while communicating progress or status changes with their primary physicians. She also provides cardio-pulmonary and critical care consultations within the facility for more acute conditions and chronically ill patients in collaboration with Dr. Michael Gross and Dr. Jason Shatkin. She provides this follow up of care in order to help prevent readmissions to the hospital and improve individual patient outcomes.
Monica’s goal is to provide quality patient care using evidence-based practice guidelines, while also developing a strong bond with her patients and their families. She spends quality time listening to her patients’ individual needs and concerns to ensure all aspects of care are met. She provides clear communication with every patient and includes the patient’s family in the decision-making process so they can develop a plan that is mutually understood and agreed upon.
