Jason Shatkin, MD
Pulmonologist, Sleep Specialist
Dr. Jason Shatkin is co-founder of Physician Specialists of Northern Jersey and medical director of our Pulmonology, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine department. He is Board-Certified in each of his three specialties, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Shatkin received his MD-Doctor of Medicine from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1995 and then completed his Residency/Internship training in Internal Medicine at North Shore University Hospital, New York in 1998. He completed his Fellowships in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at NYU School of Medicine in 2001. Dr. Shatkin’s clinical research studies experience includes fundamental research in cardiac and neuro-pharmacology, and clinical trials of new treatments for respiratory and sleep disorders.
As a Pulmonologist, Dr. Jason Shatkin’s main focus is the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of Respiratory conditions such as Asthma, Bronchiectasis, Chronic Cough, COPD, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Lung Cancer and many more. As a Sleep Specialist, Dr. Shatkin’s main focus is on disorders of fragmented sleep such as Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Narcolepsy and Insomnia, for which he has advanced training and expertise. Dr. Shatkin is a National Speaker for many organizations.
Dr. Shatkin is also pulmonary director for the sub-acute rehabilitation center, currently CareOne at Ridgewood Avenue in Paramus, NJ, where our Practitioners provide transitional care medicine for patients post-hospitalization.
Dr. Shatkin prides himself on the relationships he develops with his patients and his compassionate care, especially in the battle against COVID. He is recognized as a thought leader in the war on COVID-19. He has been interviewed by many media outlets for his expertise and compassion he shows for patients and their families.
