Nurse Practitioner
Elizabeth Drehwing Heydt has been practicing with Dr. Shatkin and Dr. Gross since 2015. She started as a member of the transitional care team, caring for patients post hospital stays in sub-acute rehabilitation. Elizabeth cared for patients with advanced cardio-pulmonary diseases as well as other chronic health conditions such as diabetes and COPD.
In 2019, Elizabeth transitioned to caring for patients in our office with her focus being Rheumatology, Pulmonology and Primary Care. Elizabeth works closely alongside Dr. Gross with the diagnosis and management of many rheumatological conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout and fibromyalgia. She also provides care for patients suffering with chronic pain due to osteoarthritis of the joints and spine. Elizabeth works alongside Dr. Shatkin as well, providing care for his pulmonary patients. She has experience in the management of COPD, asthma, obstructive breathing/airway disorders, chronic cough and obstructive sleep apnea.
Elizabeth takes pride in connecting with her patients while providing ongoing education and practicing using evidence-based medicine guidelines. She looks forward to providing excellent treatment, guidance and personalized care for all of her patients.
Medical Professional Training
After completing her undergraduate education at Sacred Heart University with her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 2011, Elizabeth went on to work as a Registered Nurse at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ in a cardiac telemetry unit. She later went on to pursue her career in becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner and attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC where she graduated magna cum laude with her Master’s Degree in Nursing in 2015.
