Elizabeth Heydt, MSN, RN, APN-C
Nurse Practitioner
Elizabeth Heydt has been practicing with Dr. Shatkin and Dr. Gross since 2015. She started as a member of the transitional care team, caring for patients post hospital stays in sub-acute rehabilitation. Elizabeth cared for patients with advanced cardio-pulmonary diseases as well as other chronic health conditions such as diabetes and COPD. Prior to completing her degree as a nurse practitioner, she was working as a registered nurse on a cardiac telemetry unit and most recently achieved her Master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Georgetown University.
In 2019 Elizabeth transitioned to caring for patients in our office with her focus being Rheumatology, Pulmonology and Primary Care. Elizabeth works closely alongside Dr. Gross with the diagnosis and management of many rheumatological conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout and fibromyalgia. She also provides care for patients suffering with chronic pain due to osteoarthritis of the joints and spine. Elizabeth works alongside Dr. Shatkin as well, providing care for his pulmonary patients. She has experience in the management of COPD, asthma, small airway disease, chronic cough and obstructive sleep apnea.
Elizabeth takes pride in connecting with patients while providing ongoing education and practicing evidence-based medicine. She looks forward to providing excellent treatment, guidance and personalized care for her patients.
Professional Training
After completing her undergraduate education at Sacred Heart University with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Elizabeth went on to work at The Valley Hospital on a cardiac telemetry unit. She eventually went on to pursue her Family Nurse Practitioner degree at Georgetown University where she graduated magna cum laude.
